DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

It is with propound pleasure and undoubted privilege I release this congratulatory message at the inauguration of Cadet.lk, the Web site of the National Cadet Corps to create awareness among the viewer-ship and to motivate school community to join the organization. The NCC one of the premier leadership development organizations grooming tomorrow’s leaders for the service of the nation , is in its continuing strive to reach greater height. Since its inception in 1881 at Royal College, Colombo, the NCC has imparted quality training to a large number of youth (boys & girls) inculcating in them the qualities of leadership of learning to meet socio-economic challenges of our time.
It is my concern, the provision of training by the NCC is a pathway to a sustainable change in one’s life as in the NCC ‘Training remains the top priority based on our motto “ Never be unprepared”.
It is a matter of great pride for the NCC that today former cadets hold very high offices and have excelled in the fields of Governance , Defence , Education , Medicine , Engineering , Industry and Politics in the task of nation building and development with full dedication , enthusiasm and commitment.
Presently, the NCC is training approximately 50,000 cadets annually inclusive of 32,500 Army Wing Cadets , 6250 Naval Wing Cadets , 4375 Air Force Wing Cadets , 2125 Police Wing Cadets and 4750 Western and Eastern Band Cadets both boys and girls. It is the desire of His Excellency the President to promote English and Tamil languages in every nook and corner of our country as bilingualism and multilingualism have become very popular to meet the increasing needs of the new millennium.
The NCC while grooming and shaping younger generation of Sri Lanka extends its support to Officers and ORs of the Armed Forces and the Police by organizing Intensive English, Tamil Language courses. In addition, Computer, Sinhala Language, Counselling courses are being conducted to cater to the needs of the Armed Forces personnel.
While expressing my gratitude to the Secretary Ministry of Defence for the benevolent cooperation and instructions, I wish to appreciate valued contribution of Additional Secretary (Defence) and the Ministry’s Staff in making the NCC a Centre of Excellence in Training.
Thank you.
