SEVA VANITHA BRANCH

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the NCC was launched with the intention of uplifting welfare facilities of the members of NCC community,under the patronage of Mrs. Priyanthi Jayasundara, wife of the Director NCC major General Gamini Jayasundara RWP RSP. She became the first president of the Seva Vanitha Branch and from the day onward , the Seva Vanitha Branch has become a pillar of strength in the backing of day to day activities of the NCC.

Her broad mindedness and collection of social experiences paved the way to provide necessary guidence for the smooth functioning of the organisation.


Some of the services rendered by the seva vanitha unit of the NCC;

  • Construction of a new pavilion at the parade square for the parents who come to witness final parade of the battalion assessment camp.

  • Awarding scholarships to cadets who need financial support for their education. Those who have performed well at the G.C.E. Advanced level examination are also provided with some financial aids.

  • Establishment of a Buddhist Shrine at the training centre in order to enhance spiritual awareness of trainee.

  • Opening of a welfare canteen and a shop at NCC training centre with the aim of building up funds in order to facilitate the welfare programmes for the cadets.

  • Renovation of the Medical Inspection Room.

  • Providing lunch free of charge for the parents who visited Hermann Loos and De Soysa camp 2007,2008,2009 and 2010.

  • Establishment of a death donation scheme in the National Cadet Corps.

  • Introduction of a new uniform for cadet bands and providing 50 sets of uniforms to NCC training centre to be used in the parades at Rantembe.

  • Donation was given to the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Ministry of Defence in connection with 'Ranaviru Niwasa Aramudala'.

  • Donation of essential utensils to Ranaviru patients at Colombo South General Hospital.

  • Renovation of 2 houses obtained from Mahaweli Authority , and converted them as holiday bungalows for the NCC officers.

  • A Bhakthigeetha programme was arranged for the annual Poson festival.

  • Providing welfare facilities to civilian staff.

  • Two Official Quarters were taken over and renovated with luxurious facilities and converted them as Holiday Bungalows namely Victoria and Randenigala for the benefit of NCC Officers.

  • Two storied building was constructed adjoining to Stationary Officers’ Mess with modern facilities as a Holiday Resort. 


PROJECTS PLANNED FOR THE FUTURE

  • Development of telephone facilities for the cadets at the Training Centre.

  • Opening of Milk bar next to the training centre.

  • To build an Auditorium and a hall to provide accommodation for cadets who come to the Headquarters for duties.



 

THERE ARE TWO CIRCUIT BUNGLOWS MAINTAINED AT RANTEMBE BY SEWA VANITHA BRANCH OF THE NCC ,CAN BE RESERVED FOR NCC OFFICERS. TWO LUXURY BUNGLOWS NAMELY 'RANDENIGALA' & ' VICTORIA' WERE FURNISHED AND AVAILABLE FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE.
