The National Cadet Corps Annual Battalion Assessment Camp VII – 2026 successfully concluded with the final passing-out parade of 30 Junior Cadet Boy Platoons representing the 15th Battalion – Monaragala, 19th Battalion – Pannipitiya and 24th Battalion – Debarawewa.
The final passing-out parade was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Saman Herath, Commanding Officer of the 15th Battalion while the Second-in-Command was Prasanna Herath, Commanding Officer of the 10th Battalion.
The positions of Cadet Regimental Sergeant Majors were held by Cadet Warrant Officer I, HMS Nethsara, BMRG Jayasekara, and GAKD Kumara. while the parade was further enhanced by the musical performance of the Boys’ Eastern Band of St. Anne’s College, representing the 04th Battalion.
Based on the overall assessment results of the camp, Championship and Runner-up awards were presented to the Junior Cadet Boy Platoons that demonstrated outstanding performances.
Accordingly, Mahinda Rajapaksa College – Homagama, representing the 19th Battalion, secured the Championship with a total of 1284.97 marks, while Dharmapala College – Pannipitiya, also representing the 19th Battalion, secured the Runner-up position with 1188.97 marks.
Meanwhile, Sevanagala Central College, representing the 24th Battalion, secured the Championship with 991.48 marks, while Thanamalwila National School, also representing the 24th Battalion, secured the Runner-up position with 900.14 marks.
Major General KLP Karunanayake RWP RSP ndc, the General Officer Commanding of 53 Infantry Division, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Such assessment camps provide a valuable opportunity to identify the talents of cadets while further developing the discipline and leadership qualities essential for them to face future challenges.
