ELEGANT PARADE MARKS TRIUMPHANT CONCLUSION OF GIRLS BATTALION ASSESSMENT CAMP DETAIL-IV AT RANTAMBE

RANTAMBE — July 13, 2026: The Rantambe Training Centre saw a mood for celebration yesterday as the Defence Cadet Girls Battalion Assessment Camp Detail-IV drew to a spectacular close with an elegant passing-out parade. The ceremony marked the culmination of days continued tests and evaluations with adventure and endurance. The final parade comprised of the girl cadets from the 7th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 17th Battalions., Colonel N.C.G. Silva, Deputy Director of the Southern Province graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The parade was commanded by Parade Commander Lt. Col. Ajantha Herath (L)(11 NCC), supported by Parade Second in Command Maj. Medha Dissanayaka(L) (09 NCC). Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) Warrant Officer 1 M.S.N. Perera (11 NCC) and Warrant Officer 1 WO 1 RMJK Rajakaruna (09 NCC) proudly marched in the parade. The parade marched to rhythmic tunes performed by the Eastern Band of Sangamiththa Girls' School, Matale. From the 7th Battalion, Yashodara Devi Girls' School secured a resounding victory, claiming the first place with an impressive score of 1254.26 marks. President's Central College, Embilipitiya rose to the top of the 10th Battalion by attaining 1046.30 marks, while Siripura Central College claimed the championship for the 11th Battalion with a total of 1068.97 marks. Panadura Girls' College delivered a powerhouse performance to top the 12th Battalion, securing the highest overall score of the entire assessment detail with an exceptional 1265.64 marks. Meanwhile, Sri Sangamiththa Girls' College, Matale proved their excellence by leading the 13th Battalion with a score of 1024.29 marks. Rounding out the elite champions, D.S. Senanayake National School, Ampara proudly took the first place for the 17th Battalion by gaining 934.13 marks. Addressing the gathering, Colonel N.C.G. Silva commended the rising standard of Girls Cadeting in Sri Lanka, highlighting that the discipline, teamwork, and resilience displayed at Rantambe would undoubtedly pave the way for these young gilrs to become future leaders of the nation.

Awareness Program for School Principals on the National Cadet Corps Movement

BATTICALOA — A special awareness program aimed at school principals regarding school cadet programs and their profound contribution to the school community was held on July 07, 2026, at St. Vincent's Girls' High School in Batticaloa. The event was graced by the Governor of the Eastern Province, Hon. Jayantha Lal Rathnasekera, as the Chief Guest. Organized by the Eastern Province Headquarters of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), the seminar focused heavily on enlightening school heads about the core significance of cadetting, its foundational objectives, and how the movement actively shapes student leadership and personal discipline. Major General APCR Premathilaka RSP USP ndc, Director of the National Cadet Corps, along with Colonel HDL Ravindra (Colonel Training) and Colonel D Nayiduwawadu (Colonel Corps Secretary), addressed the distinguished gathering. They emphasized the structural and character-building benefits that a robust cadet platoon brings to a school ecosystem. Following the main briefing, an interactive panel discussion took place. The Director NCC, along with top-tier educational officials, engaged in an open dialogue, sharing insights and addressing queries raised by the participating school principals and other educational administrative officers present at the venue.

STRATEGIC TRIUMPHS FOR THREE BATTALIONS AS RANTAMBE ASSESSMENT CAMP III CONCLUDES WITH GRAND PARADE

RANTAMBE — The National Cadet Corps (NCC) reached another major milestone in its 2026 training calendar as the Defence Cadet Boys Battalion Assessment Camp Detail-III concluded with a magnificent passing-out parade at the Rantambe Training Centre on 25 May 2026. The event marked the culmination of rigorous training, testing the tactical skills, endurance, and character of young cadets across multiple regions. The competitive field was fiercely contested, drawing massive representation from across the corps. A total of 58 platoons marched into the assessment grids, consisting of 28 platoons from the 16th Battalion, 19 platoons from the 26th Battalion, and 11 platoons from the 17th Battalion. When the final tallies were locked in, the battalion championships were claimed by three standout institutions: • 26th Battalion: St. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia delivered an absolute powerhouse performance, topping their battalion and leading the entire camp's scoring with a massive 1433.48 marks. • 16th Battalion: Deyiyandara National School showcased exceptional synergy and field discipline, securing the top spot for their unit with an impressive 1129.64 marks. • 17th Battalion: Uhana National School proved their mettle through intense determination, claiming the battalion crown with a robust 1009.15 marks. The final passing-out parade was held under the distinguished patronage of Colonel Dasan Nayiduwawadu, the Corps Secretary of the National Cadet Corps, who attended as the Chief Guest. Addressing the parade square, Colonel Nayiduwawadu highly commended the cadets for their precision, sharp movements, and unwavering dedication during the grueling assessment periods. He emphasized that the grit forged on the training grounds of Rantambe equips these young men with the lifelong resilience and leadership necessary to serve the nation.

𝗡𝗖𝗖 𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧𝗦 𝗠𝗔𝗝𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗖 𝗘𝗫𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗚𝗘𝗠𝗦

On 28 April 2026, a Pirith Chanting Ceremony was conducted at the Headquarters of the National Cadet Corps to invoke the blessings of the Triple Gems for the Corps, which celebrates its majestic legacy of 145 years. An elegant procession with traditional dancing troops from the 3rd, 9th, and 26th Battalions led the Maha Sangha to the venue. The Chief Incumbent of Sri Sudharshanaramaya, Kalubowila, conducted the religious observances and dedicated merit to all the fallen officers of the NCC and the cadets who made their supreme sacrifice for the sovereignty of the Motherland. The Director of the National Cadet Corps, Major General APCR Premathilaka RSP USP ndc, along with a few distinguished former Directors, also graced the occasion.

The Director of the National Cadet Corps, together with the Principal Staff and Staff Officers of HQ NCC, participated in the occasion. The Chief Incumbent of Sri Sudarshanaramaya led the religious observances and commended the arrangements of the event. Cadets, Commanding Officers from 30 Battalions, Adjutants and Training Officers, Tri-Forces Permanent Staff members, and Civil Staff of the Corps also participated in the ceremony.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS JOINED THE NATIONAL CELEBRATIONS OF THE POSON FESTIVAL

National Cadet Corps (NCC) joined the national celebrations of the Poson Festival at Anuradhapura. Cadets and officers from the 4th, 5th, 13th, and 23rd Battalions joined the Poson Devotional Songs (Bhakthi Gee) session named "Sawana Rashmi Dhara". The performance took place on 29th June 2026, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, in front of the sacred Sandahiru Seya in Anuradhapura. The Director of the NCC and Provincial Educational Heads of the North Central Province also participated in this event.

"DANSALA" (ALMSGIVING STALL) WAS ORGANIZED BY THE CADETS

A special "Dansala" (almsgiving stall) was organized by the cadets in the car park of the Sandahiru Seya. The initiative was held to serve and welcome the massive crowds of devotees who had traveled to Anuradhapura to worship the sacred stupa during the Poson festive season.
