RANTAMBE — August 03, 2026: The Junior Cadet Boys Provincial Assessment Camp – Detail I, held at the Rantambe Training Centre, a nurturing ground for creative and resilient young minds, successfully concluded on August 03.
The passing-out parade was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel W.M.A. Weerasinghe, while Major Ashoka Abeysinghe served as the Second-in-Command. Warrant Officer I HMGLV Mawilmada, 02nd Battalion and Warrant Officer I PHUS Samaranayake, 08th Battalion acted as Cadet Regiment Sergeant Majors, while the parade was further enhanced by the rhythmic performances of the Eastern Girls' Band of Holy Family Convent, Kurunegala.
Among the winners, St. Sylvester's College, Kandy, representing the 02nd Battalion of the Central Province, secured the Championship with a score of 763.65 marks, while Walala A. Rathnayake Central College, Menikhinna, representing the 23rd Battalion, secured the Runner-up position with 729.49 marks.
In the North Western Province, Dammissara National School, Naththandiya, representing the 35th Battalion, secured the Championship with an impressive score of 889.16 marks, while Walaswewa Gunapala Malalasekara Model School, representing the 04th Battalion, secured the Runner-up position with 758.32 marks.
In the Sabaragamuwa Province, Sirisaman Central College, Deraniyagala, representing the 09th Battalion, secured the Championship with 709.49 marks, while Galigamuwa Kobbawela Keerthirathna Maha Vidyalaya, also representing the 09th Battalion, secured the Runner-up position with 603.16 marks.
The passing-out parade held at Rantambe was graced by Colonel HMMC Bandara, the Deputy Director of North Western Province, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the parade, he expressed his appreciation for the resilience demonstrated by the young cadets and stated, “Those of you who have demonstrated resilience today will undoubtedly become outstanding individuals who will conquer the world tomorrow.”
