The Junior Cadet Provincial Assessment Camp – Phase II – 2026, organized by the National Cadet Corps (NCC), was successfully concluded on 12 August 2026 at the Rantembe Training Centre.
The Passing Out Parade was held with the participation of 49 Boys’ Cadet Platoons representing Battalions 3, 7, 10, 19, 20, 22 and 24, creating a memorable and ceremonial occasion for the participating cadets.
The Chief Guest at the occasion was Colonel JAUJP Jayasuriya, Deputy Director, Western Province, National Cadet Corps. The parade was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Priyantha Marasinghe (19 NCC), while Major Prasanna Herath (10 NCC) served as the Second-in-Command. HPUSP Alpid served as the Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major.
Musical accompaniment for the parade was provided by the Western Band of Victoria National School, representing the 28 Battalion.
Based on the results of the cadet competitions conducted among representatives of the Northern, Southern and Western Provinces, Bandaranayake College, Gampaha, representing the 7 Battalion, emerged as the Champion of the Western Province with a score of 846.49 points. Ananda College, Colombo 10, representing the 3 Battalion, secured the Runner-up position with 789.99 points.
In the Southern Province, Debarawewa National School, Tissamaharama, representing the 24 Battalion, secured the Championship with 762.82 points, while Ruhunu Vijayaba National School, Beliatta, representing the 10 Battalion, secured the Runner-up position with 641.15 points.
In the Northern Province, Nelliyadi National School, Karaveddi, representing the 20 Battalion, emerged as the Champion with 453.32 points, while Aliwangkuwa Maha Vidyalaya, Padaviya, Sripura, representing the 22 Battalion, secured the Runner-up position with 332.32 points.
The successful completion of the Junior Cadet Provincial Assessment Camp – Phase II – 2026 once again demonstrated the continued commitment of the National Cadet Corps to nurturing discipline, leadership, character, confidence and a sense of responsibility among young cadets, preparing them to become responsible and capable future leaders.
